"Well, aren't you just...crafty!"

Since, I don't have much else to do these days, I've resorted back to one of my true loves: crafting! I've always wanted to be Martha Stewart and, I even told someone once that I was going to be a professional crafter. I guess it gives me the opportunity to make something new from bits and pieces of ordinary things. Here's a look at what I've been creating recently.

Placemats and dinner napkins
(yes, they are pink John Deere)

Memory Books

Jewelry

Now, crafting is a very important thing in our family. It is so important that when we, the daughters, graduate from college we are bestowed with our very own sewing machine from our parents. The day after Thanksgiving is reserved as "the craft day". My own bedroom is also known as the sewing room. But, even though I have to move piles of fabric and fight with the craft boxes under my bed, I would never give up crafting. In fact, it goes to show that what Pres. Uchtdorf said is true. "We each have an inherent wish to create something that did not exist before. Creation brings deep satisfaction and fulfillment." Since it is one thing I CAN do, I guess I'll stick to crafting. Be on the lookout for future creations.

By the way, anyone who can tell me what movie the title is from gets extra bonus points.

My Tribute

Yesterday brought the news of Michael Jackson's death, it only felt appropriate to leave my tribute to the King of Pop. No, I never really listened to his music. No, I never learned the Thriller dance. In fact, he kind of scared me. All this aside, he did leave his mark on my life, and I will never be the same. So, thank you Michael Jackson.

Thank you for the glove!

Meh, Meh, Meh

Mom informed me this morning that I needed to update my blog. With what? That is a really good question. Since the last time I posted here are some things that I've learned.

1. Being unemployed isn't as much fun as it always seemed. Yes, I get to do lots of "projects" that I wouldn't normally have time to do, I've gotten back into reading for pleasure, I've caught up on sleep, etc., but I feel half guilty doing these things when I could be working somewhere making a suitable income for living.
2. The economy is really bad. And, the lack of unemployment sure isn't helping it anyway. I tried to buy some shoes, but then realized it would use about half of my entire savings! One pair of shoes that was 50% off would use half of my savings. Don't businesses understand and can't they help us poor people out!?
3. Wisconsin is not Florida. This week it finally decided to act like summer here and we had several very beautiful sunny days. I guess I'll be grateful for this in August when it isn't 97 degrees and 97 percent humidity.
4. The Next Food Network Star is still as amazing as it was two years ago. For some reason in 2007 I found myself with a really empty Saturday and no one around so I watched an entire season of TNFNS and became hooked. I loved it then, and I love it still!
5. Wii tennis is a lot more fun if you are good and can beat the pros. Thanks to Janet I learned some good techniques and I, too, have reached pro tennis player status. Now if only my real tennis game was as good.

There are a few things. If anyone has a job for me, let me know. If anyone knows of any fun social things to do, let me know. If anyone knows where the money tree grows, let me know. Those shoes are still calling my name.
